One of the most famous thought experiments in modern philosophy isRobert Nozick’s “experience machine,” which he wroteabout in his 1974 Anarchy, State, andUtopia: 【如果有一个experience machine, 姑且叫做体验机器吧,它能让你去体验任何你以为真实的场景,能实现你的各种YY,前提是这些都是假的,虚幻的,但你也不会知道,你可以永远呆在里面,过一种全新的生活,你会选择去么】 Supposethere were an experience machine that could give you any experience youdesired. Superduper neuropsychologists could stimulate your brain so that youwould think and feel you were writing a great novel, or making a friend, orreading an interesting book. All the time you would be floating in a tank, withelectrodes attached to your brain. Should you plug into this machine for life, preprogramming your life’s experiences?
