as的用法早就想与大家分享 ， 但因为as的使用广泛 ， 还有和其他词的区别微妙 ， 只可意会 ， 不轻易解释清晰 ， 甚至会涉及语言习惯题目 ， 所以一直犹豫来着 。

用来进行比较：
The water was as smooth as glass.
水面像玻璃一样光滑 。
I hope this year is as happy as the last.
我但愿您今年跟去年一样快乐 。
Her coat cost twice as much as mine.
她的外套比我的贵一倍 。
The secret of happiness could be as simple as remembering the good times and forgetting the regrets.
幸福的秘诀可以很简朴 ， 就是记住夸姣的时光 ， 健忘让人遗憾的事 。
（as … as）
The situation is not so bad as you suggest.
情况并不像你说的那么糟 。
（not so … as）
She is the same height as her sister.
她和她姐姐一样高 。
I received the same grade as you did.
我和你的成绩一样 。
（the same … as）
There"s no such thing as a free lunch.
天下没有免费的午餐 。
（such … as）

指事情以同样的方式发生
Do as your parents told you.
照你父母说的做 。
Treat other people as you hope they will treat you
你但愿别人怎么对你,你就怎么对待别人.
用来表达时间关系
Dad looked sad and worried as he read the letter.
爸爸读这封信时显得又伤心又担心 。
As you approach the town, you"ll see the college on the left.
当你走近城镇时 ， 你会看到学院在左边 。
Wise men become wiser as they grow older, ignorant men more ignorant.
智慧的人越老越智慧 ， 愚蠢的人越老越愚蠢 。
when ， as ， while表示“当…时”经常可以互换
as同时（或前后几乎）发生（可以是短暂性动词）
while同时进行（一定是延续性动词）
As the car drew level with us, I realized Isabel was driving.
当汽车与我们并驾齐驱时 ， 我发现开车的是伊莎贝尔 。
As you eat more, you will gain more weight.
你吃得越多 ， 就越胖 。
As you study more, you will get better grades.
学习更努力 ， 成绩更好 。

我洗澡的时候 ， 我妻子在洗碗 。
when和while区别 ， 以前写过 ， 可以参考：

用来表达因果关系
I went to bed early, as I was knackered.
我很早就上床睡觉了 ， 由于我累坏了 。
He didn"t mention it as he didn"t want to worry you.
他没提由于他不想让你担心 。
He couldn"t come as he had an appointment.
他不能来 ， 由于他有个约会 。
as, because和since区别:
because最常见 ， 它表示的是导致一个结果的真正原因 。
He cried because he had hurt his knee.
他哭是因为他的膝盖受伤了 。
I left because you never asked me to stay.
我离开是因为你没让我留下 。
I do it because I like it.
我这么做是因为我喜欢 。
as和since用的相对少些 ， 而且用它们时 ， 我们更夸大结果 ， 原因是大家众所周知的事实 ， since比as正式 。
Since you"re tired, let"s stay at home.
既然你累了 ， 我们就呆在家里吧 。
They could not afford the house since they were not earning enough.
由于收入不够 ， 他们买不起屋子 。
Since I hadn"t heard from you, I decided to give you a call.
由于没有你的动静 ， 我决定给你打个电话 。

用来表达让步关系

这样的事看似荒诞乖张 ， 但常发生 。
Young as she is, she is an acknowledged expert in applied chemistry.
她虽年青 ， 但却是公认的应用化学专家 。
