Moreover, I learned lots of knowledge. I majored in materials chemistry. The field of this summer program is biochemistry. Honestly speaking, it is hard for the lack of related basic knowledge. But it is also interesting, especially when I master the new knowledge from research meeting and papers, I came up with my own opinion. In this process, it broadened my horizons and strengthened my love for scientific research. When I realized that in one day I can use my knowledge to change something, to invite something new, I felt excited. Interdisciplinary studies make me clear about my future research direction. I wanted to do more researches in interdisciplinary fields because I can always find something new, find something I do not know.

Third, Harvard, one of the top universities in world, taught me a lot this summer. Professor H taught me that learn from mistake. I made mistakes in assignments. Professor H pointed out my problem carefully and used many examples to teach me. I noticed that I was usually careless and miss out some details which might had big effects on the results. For instance, I used the wrong sampling methods which could result in unconvincing results. From then on, I paid more attention on the details. In addition, Professor H emphasized the importance of designing experiments. Before, I focused on the experimental skills. Professor H told me that a good design could make me do experiments more effectively and accurately. I designed the experiment process, so I found there were problems which might be mislead in the experiments like the time to feed high fat high sugar diets and how to make sure mice get enough sugar and fat intake at the same time. Based on other people’s studies and my personal thought, I solve these problems finally. If I did not get a careful design, I might waste much time during doing the experiments.

Forth, writing the review about the related topic is difficult. It is difficult to start, especially I was not familiar about the topic. As I read more papers, I gradually found the common point made in different papers and the different parts. What I should do was trying to summarize the similarities and differences. Another problem is explaining the similarity and difference because most papers just focus on their own studies. Like it is really hard to explain the different test results about TCA cycle. Many researchers just mentioned the similar test results from others but did not explain why they get different result from others, so I had to find related studies. In some cases, I need to put forward my personal conjecture. Finally, I finished the paper, I felt the sense of achievement. In the paper, I put forward my own views and opinions, like the promising research directions and how people can use the studies to treat the negative effects of high fat diets. The most important thing is that I get the related experience which can help me a lot in the future study.
