Presentation is often required when you need to convey your academic ideas to other members of a class or share your business plans with colleagues. However, for those who are not born with natural eloquence, giving a presentation is tough. People may have divergent opinions on how to identify the weakness in a presentation and thus improve it. My personal choice is to ask classmates or colleagues for comments.
To begin with, our colleagues or classmates are more sincere to us. We might mistakenly believe that while we are giving a presentation, audiences are waiting to laugh at our mistakes. But the truth is that in most cases, they want to see us succeed. Even if a presentation is not so successful, they still tend to share their true feelings with us and help us make it perfect. This reminds me of my own experience a couple of years ago. I was assigned to give a presentation to a bunch of college students, which was a marketing campaign. One day before the presentation, I practiced and practiced since it would be my first time to be the main speaker in this setting. However, standing on the stage, I was too nervous to follow my original plans. I had to admit that the presentation was awfully tedious, and I felt so sorry about it. Instead of criticizing me, the colleagues from the Marketing Department, who were in the audience, encouraged me. Kun, who later became a friend of mine, told me that they could relate to how nerve-racking it was. In the office, they gave me a lot of sincere suggestions, which helped me to be a better speaker.
