A clear awareness of “where we are” helped us restore our confidence gradually.
对于“我们在哪儿”的清醒认识，逐渐帮助中国找回了昔日的自信 。
Yet today we are faced with new uprising global challenges. Is COVID-19 locking down the world? Is climate change slowing down our development? Is globalization falling down to glocalization?
然而，如今我们又面临着崭新的全球性挑战 。新冠肺炎疫情是否封锁了整个世界？气候变化是否正在延缓人类的发展？全球化是否正让位给全球地方化？
Ladies and gentlemen, we need increased confidence to conquer these increased challenges. What history, as a mirror, tells us is that we can only gain confidence by knowing who we are, where we are, and what to do.
女士们、先生们，我们必须以更自信的姿态来迎接这些挑战 。历史，如一面镜子，提醒我们自信来源于“我们是谁”“我们在哪儿”以及“我们要做什么”这三个问题的回答 。
Our ancestors told us “who we are” by building a civilized community throughout the long course of history. Our predecessors told us “where we are” by exploring the world in a new situation. Each generation must answer by themselves and for themselves “what to do”.
我们的先人在历史长河中建构起了一个文明共同体，他们回答了“我们是谁”的问题；我们的前辈在新的国际格局中探索出了一条现代化道路，他们回答了“我们在哪儿”的问题；每一代人都必须由自己、也为自己找到“我们要做什么”的答案 。
In the new era, in this new challenging world, we must find what we should do. Thank you very much!
在新时代，面对新的全球挑战，我们必须明白我们应该做些什么 。谢谢大家！
在中国日报社“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛的总决赛上，汪栎宬以“History as a Mirror”为题，发表了演讲 。
中华民族的民族自信，来源于什么？汪栎宬发出“灵魂三问”，直击答案 。
History, as a mirror, gives answers to three questions: Who we are? Where we are? And What to do? The answers to these questions constitute the source of our confidence.“历史，如一面镜子，回答了以下三个问题——我们是谁？我们在哪儿？以及，我们要做什么？这三个问题的答案构建起我们民族自信的来源 。”
“中华民族与自信的中华文明一体，兼收并蓄、尊敬谦恭，从不以扩张权势为目的 。相比于同化他人，我们更崇尚不同文明间的友好交流 。”这是因为，我们的祖先深刻地明白：“我们是谁？”
The Chinese nation is confident as a civilization, inclusive, respectful, but not expansionary. We cherish acculturation over assimilation.
然而，历史永远在变化，曾经中华民族因为战争而短暂丢失过民族自信——科学技术首当其冲，政治制度紧随其后，最后连思想文化也难逃厄运 。
当时的中华民族，一边探索救国存亡的道路，一边寻找“我们在哪儿”的答案 。“为了适应新的局面，我们作出许多尝试，也遭受了众多磨难，但最终在这个日益全球化的世界里找到了一条适合自己的道路 。”
We struggled to adapt ourselves to this new situation in different directions, and finally found our road in an increasingly globalized world.

作为Z世代的一员，汪栎宬身处全面小康社会，衣食无忧，资源富足 。这一代人，是真正有底气平视世界的一代人 。
